A big congratulations must go to current Uni BHL1 young gun Mitchell Smith, who recently competed for Country Qld in the National Open Country Championships. After Qld went on to win the tournament, the Toowomba product was named captain of the Australian U21 Country Team.

Congratulations Mitch and good luck representing Australia in Fiji later in the year!!

Results - Week 1:

BHL5: Uni 1 def by SW 3
Unfortunately the Div 5 boys have bowed out of the 2010 finals series with a loss against South West. It was a good team effort and the boys were unlucky and after being the better side for large periods of the match were left to rue missed chances.

VHL1: Uni 0 drew Easts 0
In a 1 vs 2 match where the winner went straight through to the GF, the mature RedVets (or youthful RedVets if you ask the VHL2 side) played out a suprising nil-all draw with ladder leaders Easts. Unfortunately as Easts finished top they go straight through, but the result augers well in affirming Uni as genuine premiership hopes in the flagship Vets comp. They will play Bulimba next Tuesday for the right to face off against Easts in the decider.

Results - Week 2:

BHL2: Uni 0 def by Redcliffe 1
A break away goal in the first half was enough to seal the game for the Penisula team in the 1 vs 2 clash. A fairly scrappy first half probably saw the run of the play go to Redcliffe. This was all turned around in the second, with Uni controlling the ball and dominating field possession. With Redcliffe on the back foot, we were unable to convert several gilt-edged chances and now face a knock-out prelim final against Easts.

BHL3: Uni 0 def by East 2
Missing several key players and early injuries was always going to make it tough for the 3.1s. They had their chances in the match but Easts just had that little extra, knocking a goal in from each half. Uni now face Redcliffe in the prelim final to try and make it consecutive grand finals and a rematch with Easts.

A big congratulations to the Uni BHL2 and BHL3.1 sides who have picked up the minor premierships for 2010 in their respective competitions. Both teams came through the season in very close and tough comps with only a handful of losses between them.

Congrats to Coaches Hose/Dush (BHL2) and Phantom/Stevie (BHL3.1), their respective captains Round Man and Sven and all the boys for securing the first Minor Premierships for Uni since 2004, although there is still plenty of work to do to bring home the big one!

Get behind these teams in the coming weeks as they strive for more September glory - see here for the details of Uni in finals action.
