Uni brushed aside a week of turmoil to forge a scratchy win. There was a lot more discipline displayed this week on the field and on the bench. That was despite one of the V boys and Nugett contributing cartons to the end of year dinner. Several experienced players were lost through injuries and promotions. However the injection of Sneydie from the 4.2's and vet Ian Edwards proved to consolidate the team formation. Uni found themselves down a goal after 3 minutes and it looked like another bad day. However the boys stuck to the game plan with Matrix scoring a thunderbolt from the top of the circle to level the scores. Then a penalty stroke deftly placed by Nugget gave the boys a deserved lead. With the game in the balance the boys struck a third to lead at half time. In the second half Easts came back and scored a dubious penalty corner goal with the first shot on goal being above the back board. The umpire later said it was a slap shot. Well umpire, read the rule book!!!! As the game became tighter and tighter 2 minor infringements saw 2 Uni men sitting on the naughty seat. However the Red Men hung on to win their first game of the season. Even Wombat was seen to smile, obviously he had not got his heart medication mixed up with his angry pills this week. The 5's have a lot more work to do, but given their attitude may yet prove to be a force in div 5.
Goal Scorers: Lawrence Odlin, Scott Nugent
Round: 3 Game: vs Kedron Wavell, 12.00pm Sun 27th March @ Easts Result: Lost 0-2
The most improved team in the club in the last year put in their worst performance ever.
Against a KW side which only had 9 players composed largely of vets Uni lost the game easily.
KW did not win the game Uni capitulated.
The lack of discipline on the field and on the bench was contrary to required standard of this team.
Players will be doing some soul searching to determine where they want the season to head - that includes decisions on continued coaching.

Round: 2 Game: vs Norths, 12.00pm Sun 20th March @ Easts Result: Drew 0-0
Missing last years best players due to promotion had little affect on the side The boys showed how much hockey is a team game The distribution of the ball and the overall control of the game was very evident Norths had limited opportunity to score and what shots they had were under pressure At the other end Uni were making attack after attack Unfortunately composure in the circle was lacking Time and time again chances in front of goal were wasted However there have been a lot of positional changes and new players brought into the side As a result it will be a few weeks before everything clicks The side again shows promise however all opportunities for 3 points must be taken
Goal Scorers: Best Players: Justin McGilvery, Cam Harris, Mitch Dallow
