The Pubcrawl once again proved to be a highlight of the social calendar, as some 95 people showed up in their finest TOYS attire. Sifting through the Toy Box, there was an abundance of Woody’s and Buzz Lightyears, several GI-Joes, care-bears, lego, grip ball, an Action Man, Pokemon characters, Thomas’, Bob the Builders, Ghostbuster figurines, Totem Tennis, Jack-in-the-box, Monkeys, Bananas in Pyjamas, Bop-It, Santa with his sack of Toys, Where’s Wally, a Yo-Ho Diablo and even one of the all time kids favourites (especially in the Shillito household), a Bird-Watching figurine.  Costume of the night was hard to award, although this scribe certainly enjoyed Tong’s eccentric Action Man figurine and the creative efforts of I.Gout and his Yo-Ho Diablo.

The fine establishments of Toowong Bowls Club, Grand Central, the Crown, the RumJungle and the Caxton were all perused, but not before raucous singing and all round carnage of the Buses. The latest cutting edge in laser technology was enough to set the girls off, which in turn was enough to motivate the blokes to drown them out with renditions of favourites ‘Allouette’, ‘My Grandfather’s Cock’, ‘I wish that all the ladies’, ‘Municipal Dunnycart’ and the legendary Giovanni. The ghosts of Choir-Masters past would have been proud as the gents sung themselves hoarse. In the pubs themselves, madness, consumption and epic dancing ensued, particularly at the neon beacon of the rumjungle. Under cover police showed up but were no match for the masses, while the venue staff were seen with a weird expression of surprise, horror, amusement, shock and worriment at our arrival and antics.

The pub-crawl has often been a starter of romances and it proved no different in 2010, particularly amongst the international contingent. Irish import Paddy was seen cosying up to one of the Gym barbies for large portions of the night, while Grabbers pounced at the opportune time, preying on a ‘slightly’ intoxicated lovely young lady only minutes before she proceeded to throw up everywhere and go home sick. Further evidence exists of Brits Elliot and Tom vying for the Uga award and unsubstantiated reports continue to flow in about further romantic exploits. It can be confirmed, however, that the girl that former serial womaniser Billy was sharing saliva with was actually his girlfriend.

Last man standing was hard to judge, with a much sturdier group of combatants than previous years remaining at the Caxton post 4am. One by one the toys slinked away, some to the comfort of their own beds but others under the cover of darkness, hoping to elude the eye of the camera or a big boy as they pursued their chosen female for the night.

Thanks must go to the organising team and anyone who helped out, including T-Nuc, Hoover, Boze, Paul and Cholo, led admirably by the face of the Pubcrawl – GC. Not to mention Curtains for his fantastically professional Photos from the night. Photos will be added to this report/website shortly. Bring on the rest of the social calendar for 2010 and the 2011 Pubcrawl!
